Imgur (Im-ij-er) had a problem. The popular social media site was in a place where brands and advertisers couldn’t quite figure out exactly what it is and how their messaging fit into it. They wanted a sizzle reel that showcased to potential partners that it is more than people making memes and sharing pictures of their cats. That Imgur is a “community-powered entertainment destination”, where content creators feel celebrated and supported.
Along with an incredible team at MediaLab, I helped produce a sizzle that helps get this message across. Utilizing the playful and personal nature of the brand, I wanted to keep the animation light and intentional, tip-toeing the line between cartoon-ish and tech. UI was heavily featured in the design, but I wanted to bring it to life by breaking the elements apart and allow each piece to have it’s own personality that help builds the whole. Much like Imgur itself.
