People have their names mispronounced everyday. To most, this would seem like an innocuous mistake that you just move past like it never happened. This longform explainer dives deeper into how those who’s name are not only mispronounced, but also mocked, singled-out, and even altered can have a meaningful impact on the individual.
As part of the Qatari Foundation’s education initiative, we use the experiences of a handful of students who have a lifetime of misprounincing their names tell us how that can lead to other issues both socially and educationally. We used a combination of cel animation for the anecdotal evidence from the students and traditional collage graphics for the more explainer parts to helpshed light on this oft overlooked issue.
